We feel that to appreciate these dogs properly, you must have a fond appreciation for the foundation dogs of our past. Our goal is to preserve the proper temperament, structure, lineage and drive of these great dogs. Our interpretation of the breed " Standard" is one of historical vision and appreciation. Although it was written loosely, it is a clear outline of what these dogs were and should always be: a dog based on form and function. They should be able in body and mind, as well as courage and spirit.
Present day has not been kind to these dogs. The media speculation and its resounding hype have made these dogs out to be maulers that could "snap at any moment". This could not be further from the truth. In most cases, bites are the failure of a human. Failure for not identifying or ignoring previous warning signs, to train or govern their animals correctly, to recognize what is acceptable and what is not and failure to realize that, as with any animal, dog ownership is a great responsibility. Proper temperament will yield you a happy, goofy, energetic dog that, historically, is KNOWN for its great ability with children. Irresponsible ownership is the downfall of this great breed.
It is because of this that we will be very selective of the homes for our produced animals. Though we will not be breeding but every few years, those that are interested in a puppy will have to complete extensive interviewing and agree to complete health tests and proper, proven maintenance on the animal. All pets will be required to be neutered or spayed. Show animals will only be given to proven establishments with the same ideals as we have outlined. Contracts and stipulations will be strictly enforced.
We love these dogs and we love their history.
