Dick Pascoe on an Am Staffs Movement:

Movement has been and continues to be an issue of debate. I will say right now that I believe the Staf to be a normal dog, free of the exaggerations that have plagued many other breeds and that normal dogs single track.

Admittedly, at the speed that most of the dogs are moved in the show ring, rather than single track, the legs will be seen to converge toward a center plane. It should suffice for any enthusiast to carefully study the parallel track of a good bull terrier to appreciate the difference. I don't mean this to attack or demean the parallel tracking that one sees in other terriers, but for the American Staffordshire Terrier the gait should show convergence at slower speeds with a tendency toward the single track as the speed increases.

Richard Gray (Rounder’s) has pointed out in discussions regarding movement that dogs that move well should show strong drive and reach. I could not agree more. The properly moving Staf should demonstrate an athletic ("springy") gait with strong drive and reach.
